Webmaster Update: Christina has moved to Georgia and offered to continue to maintain the website. Michael Young will take over as webmaster. Christina has updated the officers, membership, and events on the website. Michael suggested including more content on the website, such as art and art history references. The board will check other chapter websites to see what kind of content is included. Rachel mentioned the need for a clear link to the ARLIS/NA site.

New England to host 2010 ARLIS/NA Conference : Brooke has sent a letter to ARLIS/NA, officially offering to host the 2010 national conference in New England. A planning committee is needed by Spring 2007. There will be a planning meeting at the ARLIS/NA conference in Atlanta this spring, which will be attended by Brooke and Elizabeth as representatives. The board discussed host city possibilities for 2010, and Boston was determined to be the most feasible. The board agreed to present Boston as the location.

Chapter insurance discussion : A committee is needed to examine the issue of chapter insurance. The possibility of an insurance waiver has recently been brought up. Brooke and Rachel will serve on a committee to investigate the insurance possibilities, including asking the chapter listserv for input.

Upcoming Meetings : May 25, 2007, is the date of the joint Spring meeting with ARLIS/NE and VRA/NA at RISD. Robert mentioned that Sunday of that weekend will be Brown's commencement; hotel rooms may be difficult to secure. Rachel will send a "save the date" message to the listserv to suggest booking hotel rooms soon.

There will be another Board meeting later in the year, perhaps in July. This meeting will possibly be held at the ICA in Boston.

The Fall ARLIS/NE meeting may be held at the ICA in Boston. ARLIS/NY is having a representative from HW Wilson speak at their next meeting. Michael suggested the authors of "Art History and its Publications in the Electronic Age" as guest speakers (Hilary Ballon and Mariet Westermann). Michael also suggested a guest from Yale University Press.

The December social event was discussed. The board discussed holding the event again at Ars Libri.

Anne Reid is organizing a Simmons GSLIS alumni event, which may be co-hosted by ARLIS/NE. Anne and Darin Murphy are meeting to talk about GSLIS students, and the possibility of a Simmons ARLIS student chapter.

ARLIS/NA 2007 Conference in Atlanta (April 26-30) : There will possibly be an unofficial chapter meeting at the annual conference. The details of all chapter meetings held at the conference should be on the ARLIS/NA website.

Some other upcoming conferences are the Innovative Users Group and Voyager Users Group meetings, both taking place in May. These may have an impact on attendance at ARLIS/NA.

Awards: The Awards committee is meeting on February 1 to determine the winners of this year's travel awards. There were many student applicants but few applicants for the other awards.

Public Relations Officer position : Rachel has several events planned for GSLIS involvement: a spring event (??), a fall social event, participation in the GSLIS fair at Simmons, and a student group field trip in October or April to a Boston metro area art library.

Rachel is also interested in bring more established art librarians to activity in ARLIS/NE.

Membership levels discussion: ARLIS/NE is adhering to ARLIS/NA's requirement that all official chapter members must be national members. However, a new category of membership is permitted for those who are not members of ARLIS/NA. The committee decided to propose an "Associate Membership" level for non-NA members. An Associate member cannot hold office or vote. The dues for Associate and regular members of ARLIS/NE will be the same.

This level of membership would be available in all categories: member, student, and institutional. There will be six kinds of members:

1.ARLIS/NE Member (also ARLIS/NA member)

2.ARLIS/NE Associate

3.ARLIS/NE Student (also ARLIS/NA member)

4.ARLIS/NE Student Associate

5. ARLIS/NE Institutional (also ARLIS/NA member)

6. ARLIS/NE Institutional Associate

The membership database will need to keep track of Associate members for voting purposes.

The membership will vote on the Associate membership category for the 2008 term. For the remainder of 2007, the membership application will inquire applicant about ARLIS/NA membership status. The awards qualifications need to be clarified.

The next ARLIS/NE board meeting will be held in July 2007.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted by Elizabeth Darocha Berenz.
